Apprentice Program Scholarships
Apprentice Program
Apprentices will attend daily workshops with acclaimed faculty and special seminars with visiting artists from around the globe. This unique international training program will expose students to a series of diverse acting, movement & vocal disciplines including commedia, clown, mask work, kabuki and innovative character creation, taught by Grotowski, Decroux, Adler, & Lecoq trained master teachers. It also will provide apprentices with hands-on experience in producing and launching an international theatre festival. Classes are taught by a dedicated international group of artist faculty that includes Master Teachers from Universities and theatres nationwide as well as international artists from the festival. Helmed by CSUCI and CSUN faculty members Ron and Luda Popenhagen, classes are taught by a dedicated international faculty, who has developed a program that integrates all students of theatre regardless of age or experience. Apprentices experience the many facets of a professional theatre by participating in crews that work front of house, behind the scenes and with administrators. In performing these vital theatrical functions, the Apprentice gains valuable hands on experience while being introduced to the inner workings of a professional theatre operation. The program culminates in an Apprentice Program performance presentation, “Around the World in 80 Minutes”. Industry professionals are invited to attend free of charge. This program gives applicable tools, witnessed by the fact that four former Festival Apprentices are currently employed by professional theatre companies.
