OUTREACH AND EDUCATION
Festival outreach and education programs are
committed to providing unique interactive
learning opportunities for students of all
ages and backgrounds. These programs are
designed to nurture cross cultural
understanding and to inspire academic
achievement in all academic areas.
The
City of Calabasas has taken a
dynamic leadership position as Title Sponsor
of CITF Season 2009, ensuring this vibrant
addition to California’s cultural scene.
This unique event will allow theatre lovers
of all ages to immerse themselves in a
dazzling assortment of classical and
contemporary productions presented in a
broad range of theatrical styles from many
different countries. In addition to
world-class theatre productions presented in
the beautiful setting of Calabasas,
California, attendees may also participate
in Festival outreach programs open to the
public, free of charge. These will include
programs for children, readings of new
works, stimulating lectures and lively panel
discussions in which community leaders are
invited to participate. Festival outreach
and education programs are committed to
providing unique interactive learning
opportunities for students of all ages and

Another
exciting aspect of the festival is the
Apprentice Program
comprised of students ages 16 to 25.
Beginning in the summer 2010, structured
morning classes will be led by an
international faculty with master classes
led by visiting international artists.
Additionally, apprentices will receive
intensive training and hands-on experience
in theatre production and administration
under the tutelage of Festival staff,
thereby contributing to their career
advancement and growth via a well-rounded
professional development program.
Accommodations for these students and
faculty are in the beautiful dormitory
housing of Festival co-sponsor California
State University, Channel Islands.
Many renowned
artists have already lent their support to
this festival: Award-winning international
artists, and Tony, Obie, Emmy and Academy
Award winners. Many businesses have already
pledged their participation. An event of
this import has come to fruition through the
effort and support of many noted individuals
and corporations. We ask you now to consider
ways in which you can join us.
Together we
will continue to build an event with those
throughout the world who believe in the
transformative power of live theatre and in
the importance of fostering friendships
between individuals of different nations and
cultures.
